The second weekend of December--the same weekend that our church Christmas party was and Joy's Annual Cookie Party was--Steven & Matt along with Zach, Ava and Tim went to Goldthwaite for a hunting expedition. It was the first of such outings for the kids. Don't fret, those are BB guns in their little hands.
I think Matt was pretty darn excited to get to go on such an adventure with his father. It sounds like he and Ava did a lot of exploring. They did some shooting with their BB guns too, and some spotlighting once it got dark to see what kind of critters were roaming about.
Not sure how to describe this one, but note the large collection of bones in the truck bed there. Several of those are on my back patio now. Neat.

My son's eyes were opened to the joys of canned bean dip on this particular trip. He's all about the snacks, you know. They all slept overnight in that camper you see there, all nice and cozy. The men were hoping to get a deer on this trip which to me is laughable and a total stretch with two 7 year olds in tow. The kids were told to be quiet in a little pop up tent while the guys lurked around looking for deer. The deer were there, but I'm told all possibilities of getting one in the crosshairs were dashed due to the loud sounds of both Matthew falling from a chair and the subsequent rustling in the tent AND Ava's best hushed tone --"Daddy, there's a deer right over there!!!!". I know Matt had a great time. He's asking to go back. And back they will go since our freezer is running low on deer meat. And Joy has a brand new, empty deep freezer.
