Port Aransas 2011

Labor Day weekend we set off for our annual beach trip to Port Aransas with a large group of our college friends. 64 friends to be exact! I believe next year the ratio will change and there will be more kids than adults. Uh-oh. As usual, we had a fabulous time. We shared a condo with the Brown family again this year because they are wonderful and our boys are best buddies. The silliness began immediately the moment Josh & Matt were reunited. They are hilarious. Everyone got along well due to the ample supply of Legos and cars around.
Matt loved the beach once again. He loved the sand and venturing out into the water.
One morning Steven played a Yo Gabba Gabba show on Netflix on his phone for Will. Soon everyone was gathered around.
Friday night on our Girls' Night we were able to throw Alison a surprise baby shower to celebrate her and her baby girl soon to arrive in December. I'm so thrilled we were able to pull it off! She was totally surprised. We had some yummy snacks that night too.
Just look at that beautiful Brown family.
These two...still in love. And super cute!
Getting the kids to cooperate for a picture altogether this year was rather difficult. Impossible I would say.
This is the best we could do. What is it about sitting in the sand with your sibling while your parents and their friends take pictures that is so unpleasant? I don't know, but there were a lot of complaints and runners. Both of mine sat still this year though. Score!
Matt had a meltdown after the kid picture. He said there was too much crying, and then he started to cry, and then he just couldn't recover. He refused to participate in the kid races. It's too bad because he's really fast. I couldn't convince him to cheer up and run because I knew it would make him feel better.
Instead, we watched Will race. That boy loves to run. He ran back and forth countless times. Adorable.
Will had his share of meltdowns too, to be sure. How many times in a row did he say "holdyouMommy!!"? I don't think I can count that high.
He was not excited about the water at all. It freaked him out. Steven finally kidnapped him and sat in the water with him screaming until he decided that the water was in fact fun. And then that's all he wanted to do. Crazy boy.
The kids dug a deep hole in the sand and then Damon decided to hop in and get buried by the horde of children. Fun for all!
Matt drew his USA map in the sand again.
We all gathered at the grills our last night there and ate some delicious ribs and watched the kids run all over the place.
Mmmm, ribs.
We were sad to leave. It's always such a fun trip and so great to be reunited with so many good friends and their children.
Before heading back to Austin we had lunch at Snoopy's again. Fantastic! See you next year, Port Aransas!
