I love having a house full of boys--and although it is loud, often smelly, and I repeat myself at least twice with anything I say, this is a blessed life and I am so thankful for it.

Fall Fever
It's October already and I know one 3 year old who is VERY excited. He was delighted to turn the calendar page to October and start discussing all the fun things we'll be doing this month. That very afternoon Matthew helped me get all my Halloween/pumpkin things out of the closet. It cracks me up how truly excited he gets over these things. To me they are decorations, but to Matt they are play things. He kept arranging them on different surfaces all day long. At one point I put them up on the table to sort of "decorate" with them, and he said, "But Momma, I was going to play with those things--can you get them down for me?" Sure, son. That boy doesn't miss a beat either. The other day we were shopping and I picked up a few jars of baby food for Will. Matt asked me why I was buying them because he knows that I make most of Will's food. I then had to divulge our plans of driving to Dallas on Sunday. I normally wait until the last minute to tell him such exciting information because otherwise I don't hear the end of it--"Mommy, are we going to Dallas today???" We're headed up to stay with our good friends Chris, Alison and Josh and enjoy the State Fair. Matt is pumped to say the least. That evening that he received the good news he got his map and cars out. This was all while I was bathing Will and putting him to bed. He unrolled the map and then I heard him driving his cars from Austin to Dallas. I came in and found this. For those who don't know, Matthew has named ALL of his cars--either friends or family. And these names never change and haven't since he's had them for 2 years now. He had taken Ava, Josh, Matthew, and Mommy's cars and put them in the Dallas inset on the map. Ava will be joining us as well up there. Hilarious! This morning I took Will for a walk in the jogging stroller for the first time. I don't really have many opportunities to take him out by himself like that, so it was really nice. I wasn't sure if he was too small for the stroller, but he fit just fine and really loved it. The weather was nice and cool this morning so he's sporting jeans for the first time. He lounged happily and eventually fell asleep. When we got back he took a nice, long nap. He looks a little grumpy in this picture because he had just woken up. Have a great weekend everyone! Oh, and for those of you who are wondering if I'll be trying the "fried butter" at the State Fair (the newest fried concoction this year), the answer is NO. Ew.
